"You believe he is still hiding in the rocks?"

Taido was silent for a moment. "It is the only logical conclusion, but the longer he waits, the worse his situation becomes. Perhaps he is expecting to be rescued."

The man in the dark suit shook his head. "That is unlikely. Even the local authorities I have not paid are angry about the incursion. They know a helicopter came across the border, and the United States authorities are denying that they authorized pursuit. I do not believe they will risk another incursion."

Taido's voice became grim. "What if the American authorities tell the American government that they suspect our operation is somewhere in this area along with what they suspect we are doing?"

"I do not believe that will be a problem."

Taido's voice turned curious. "How so, if I may ask?"

The man in the dark suit turned and looked with pleasure at Heidi Hochrein as she lay on the bed and smiled up at him. "I have sent certain communications to the United States government."

"What did you tell them?"

"I told them if they tell the Mexican government what they suspect, or try to take any kind of action against us, there will be ten outbreaks of Ebola in ten different states in the Union. I gave them the location of Heidi's second victim, Vernon Richmond, as proof. I also told them I am considering informing their media of the impending biological crisis in the United States."

The man in the dark suit could tell that Taido was smiling. "Did you receive any kind of response?"

"Not directly. It was a one-way communication. However, their police forces have withdrawn from this area of the border. I believe there is a great deal of hand-wringing and argument going on in Washington, D.C. I believe they will sit on their hands for days before they try something."

"What do you wish me to do?" Taido asked.

"Continue the search until morning and kill the Americans
